Ghana’s Theophilus Allotey, popularly known as “Lopez”, has broken into the global spotlight after climbing to 15th in the latest WBO world rankings.

Allotey, who recently stole the show at the Battle of the Beasts bill organised by Legacy Rise Sports Promotions, secured the WBO Africa Bantamweight title with a thrilling victory over Daniel Gorsh.

Already the UBO Africa and National Super Flyweight Champion, Allotey continues to earn international recognition. He currently holds the 8th spot on the IBO International rankings and 9th on the IBC list.

The news sparked jubilation at the Wisdom Boxing Gym, where Allotey trains under renowned coach Dr. Ofori Asare. Fellow boxers described his success as a source of inspiration, vowing to push themselves harder to also reach international heights.

His manager, Sarah Lotus Asare, praised the young fighter’s sacrifice and dedication, while Coach Dr. Asare appealed to corporate Ghana to rally behind Team Allotey as preparations begin for a WBC International title shot.

Undefeated and on a steady rise, Theophilus Allotey is already being tipped as a strong contender for the 2025 SWAG Boxer of the Year award.
