The Ghana Police Service has seized about 500 cartons of assorted brands of suspected Tramadol during a major intelligence-led operation at Widana in the Pusiga District of the Upper East Region.
The operation, carried out on August 18, 2026, followed a month of sustained intelligence gathering by personnel of the Police Intelligence Department and an operational team code-named Black Cobra.

Police say the suspected illicit drugs were recovered from a privately operated warehouse and several homes in Widana.
A 21-year-old Burkinabe national, Abdul Ali, has been arrested in connection with the seizure and is currently assisting with investigations.
Preliminary intelligence indicates that Widana may have been used as a transit and distribution point by a cross-border network allegedly involved in the movement of illicit drugs into and across the region.
Police say the suspected network involves foreign nationals from neighbouring countries, including Mali, Togo, Burkina Faso and Senegal.
Efforts are underway to identify and arrest other suspected accomplices as investigations continue.
