Police Dismiss Fake Flyer on AirPods, Earphones While Driving

The Ghana Police Service has urged the public to disregard a flyer circulating on social media that falsely claims that the use of AirPods, earphones and other audio devices while driving or riding is prohibited by law.

The Police say the publication did not originate from the Service and was neither issued nor authorised by it. The Cybercrime Unit has been tasked to trace those behind the false communication.

However, the Police have cautioned motorists and riders against any activity or device that could distract them, impair their hearing, affect control of their vehicles or reduce their awareness of surrounding traffic.

The Service says such distractions can pose serious road safety risks and is urging all road users to exercise maximum care while on the road.

Motorists, motorcyclists and other road users have also been advised to familiarise themselves with and comply fully with the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026, L.I. 2519, and all other applicable traffic laws.

The Ghana Police Service is further urging the public to rely only on its official communication channels for accurate information on road safety regulations and other public safety matters.
