The newly elected Executive Presbytery of Assemblies of God, Ghana, led by General Superintendent Rev. Stephen Wengam, has paid a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama at his residence in Accra.
The visit was to introduce the new leadership to the President and thank him for attending the church’s 32nd Biennial General Council Meeting as Special Guest of Honour.
The five-day meeting was held at the Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region from August 18 to 22.
Rev. Wengam expressed appreciation to President Mahama and the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, for their support to the church and pledged the church’s continued prayers for the First Family and government.
President Mahama congratulated the newly elected officers and commended Rev. Wengam for what he described as visionary and bold leadership.
He noted that the General Superintendent’s leadership had contributed significantly to the growth of Assemblies of God, Ghana, since he assumed office.
Rev. Wengam was overwhelmingly endorsed for a second term at the church’s recent Biennial General Council Meeting.
The delegation included Assistant General Superintendent-elect Rev. Kwadwo Boateng Bempah, General Secretary-elect Rev. Albert Anane, and National President of the Ministers’ Wives Association, Lady Monica Wengam.
Others were Rev. (Rtd.) Ernest Agyei, Special Aide to the General Superintendent, and Fuseini Donkor, Deputy Director-General in charge of Operations at the National Service Authority and Chairman of the Board of Teen Challenge of Assemblies of God, Ghana.
