Rev. Stephen Wengam Calls for Greater Revival in Africa at Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Conference

The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, has challenged churches across Africa to pursue deeper spiritual revival as a catalyst for the rapid evangelisation of the continent.

Rev. Wengam made the call at the climax of the 2026 National Conference of the General Council of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Addressing pastors, church leaders and congregants, the Ghanaian cleric, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance, urged the Church to place renewed emphasis on prayer, faith and discipleship to sustain growth and expand its impact across Africa.

He also used the occasion to invite pastors, leaders and church members to the World Congress of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, which will be hosted in Accra from October 14 to 16, 2026.

The conference featured a Pastors and Leaders Seminar, revival services and a Youth Ministry session. Other speakers included Rev. Dominic Yeo, Global Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, and Rev. Ryan Jacobs, an American Assemblies of God missionary based in Malawi.

Organisers said about 250 pastors and church leaders participated in the leadership seminar, while more than 2,000 worshippers attended the revival services.

The General Superintendent of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God, Bishop Shakespeare Tele, described the conference as impactful and timely, saying it had equipped the church for its next phase of growth and ministry.

As part of his visit, Rev. Wengam donated seed money towards the establishment of a new local church in Harare in support of the MM33 agenda of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, an initiative aimed at planting one million churches worldwide by 2033.

He further announced that Cedar Mountain Chapel Assemblies of God in East Legon, Accra, will partner with the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God to support the establishment of the new church.
