A 16-year-old boy at the centre of a shocking abuse case in North Legon is receiving medical and psychological support after the incident sparked widespread public outrage.
Member of Parliament for Madina, Dr. Francis-Xavier Sosu, has stepped in to fully cover the teenager’s hospital bills and support his recovery journey.
The teenager was tied to a motorcycle and dragged through the streets of North Legon by his biological father.

The disturbing incident, which triggered public outrage after videos circulated online, left the teenager with severe injuries and emotional trauma.
The victim was rushed to the University of Ghana Hospital for emergency treatment, where doctors say he is responding positively to care.
However, his medical care was hit with financial challenges as the victim’s mother could not afford medical bills.

Following the incident, the Madina Divisional DOVVSU Coordinator, ASP Dorison Tackyiwaah, contacted the MP for Madina, Dr Sosu, for assistance.
Dr Francis-Xavier Sosu immediately intervened, pledging support for the boy’s treatment and rehabilitation.
The MP has since cleared all outstanding medical bills and medication costs and additionally donated ₵3,000 to Joseph’s mother to support the family during the recovery process.

Beyond the financial assistance, Dr Sosu has also arranged for daily professional psychological counselling sessions to help the teenager cope emotionally, while medical reviews and wound care treatment continue.
The incident has reignited conversations around child abuse, parental violence, and the need for stronger protection systems for vulnerable children in Ghana.
Dr Sosu was accompanied by Lead Lawyer at F-X Law and Associates, Belinder Narkey Quaynor, and a member of the MP’s office.
