Madina Member of Parliament, Dr. Francis-Xavier Sosu, has intervened in the case of 16-year-old Joseph Martey, the teenager who was allegedly tied to a motorcycle and dragged through the streets of North Legon by his father.

The disturbing incident, which triggered public outrage after videos circulated online, left the teenager with severe injuries and emotional trauma.
Joseph was rushed to the University of Ghana Hospital for emergency treatment, where doctors say he is responding positively to care.
Following the incident, the Madina Divisional DOVVSU Commander, ASP Dorison Tackyiwaah, reportedly contacted Dr. Sosu, who immediately pledged support for the boy’s treatment and rehabilitation.

The MP has since cleared all outstanding medical bills and medication costs and additionally donated ₵3,000 to Joseph’s mother to support the family during the recovery process.
Beyond the financial assistance, Dr. Sosu has also arranged for daily professional psychological counselling sessions to help the teenager cope emotionally, while medical reviews and wound care treatment continue.

Dr. Sosu was accompanied during the intervention by the Lead Lawyer at F-X Law and Associates and a member of the Madina MP’s office, Lawyer Belinder Narkey Quaynor.
The incident has reignited conversations around child abuse, parental violence, and the need for stronger protection systems for vulnerable children in Ghana.
