Man Arrested over Viral Video Threatening to Kill Police and Military Officers

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect accused of threatening security personnel in a viral video circulating on social media.

The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Opoku, was arrested on May 7, 2026, at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region.

According to police, the arrest was carried out by the IGP’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) in collaboration with local police officers.

Viral Threats Against Security Personnel

In the widely circulated video, a masked man, later identified as Emmanuel Opoku, allegedly issued violent threats against both police and military officers.

The suspect reportedly warned officers not to attempt to arrest armed robbers and threatened to kill any security personnel who confronted him.

Suspect in Custody

Police say Emmanuel Opoku is currently in custody, assisting with investigations, and is expected to be arraigned before the court.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to dealing firmly with individuals who incite violence or threaten national security personnel.
