Police Arrest East Legon Entrepreneur over Alleged Drugging and Sharing of Intimate Videos

The Cybercrime Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, in collaboration with the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), has arrested a 36-year-old entrepreneur, Joshua Kojo Anane Boate, over the alleged non-consensual sharing of intimate images and videos of women.

The suspect, a resident of East Legon in Accra, was arrested on 6th May 2026 during a joint intelligence-led operation by investigators from the Cybercrime Unit and the BNI.

According to Police investigations, the suspect allegedly operated a Telegram platform known as “VIP Sleep Fetish 2025,” where he reportedly shared explicit videos and images of unsuspecting female victims without their consent.

Investigators say the suspect allegedly targeted women at nightclubs and social gatherings in 2025, where he seduced them, drugged them with sedatives including Alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax, and Midazolam, before sexually abusing and secretly recording them.

Police further allege that the suspect later uploaded and distributed the intimate content on the Telegram platform.

A search conducted during the arrest led to the retrieval of several electronic devices and suspected exhibits, including:

  • Two iPhones, an iPhone 17 and an iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • One feature phone
  • One memory card
  • One Seagate external hard drive
  • One MacBook laptop
  • One iSafe device
  • Empty sachets believed to contain Alprazolam and Midazolam pills

The Police say the electronic devices have been retained for digital forensic examination, while the suspected drug sachets are being prepared for submission to the Food and Drugs Authority for verification and classification.

The suspect has since been put before court, while investigations continue.

The Ghana Police Service says it remains committed to fighting online sexual exploitation and abuse and has urged the public to report suspected cases through the nearest police station or approved reporting channels.
