The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested 14 suspects over their alleged involvement in the cultivation and distribution of narcotic drugs at Daliga in the Nabdam District.

The arrests were made on Sunday, August 16, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) and the newly established Black Cobra Team.

According to the Police, a search of the area led to the discovery of a large quantity of suspected narcotic substances concealed in sacks of millet and maize.
Preliminary investigations indicate that suspected Indian hemp was being cultivated alongside food crops, allegedly to conceal the farms and evade detection.

The suspects are also believed to be major suppliers to drug peddlers operating in parts of the Upper East Region.
Police say the suspects remain in custody and will be put before court to face the full rigours of the law.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Police to disrupt the cultivation, supply and distribution of narcotic drugs in the region.
