The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted Inspector Hance Atubra of the Tarkwa Divisional Headquarters to the rank of Chief Inspector for his bravery in saving lives during a fire outbreak at Aboso in the Western Region.
The fire broke out on August 26, 2026, engulfing several shops at the Aboso Main Lorry Station and destroying property.
Inspector Atubra was reportedly the first police officer to arrive at the scene.
Without waiting for reinforcements, he immediately moved in to help evacuate people trapped in the affected area, assisting victims to safety.
His quick response and courage were commended by eyewitnesses, who subsequently recommended him for recognition.
The Police Administration says the promotion is in recognition of his exceptional bravery, commitment to duty and efforts to protect life and property.
The gesture also reinforces the Police Administration’s commitment to recognising officers who go beyond the call of duty to serve and protect the public.
