Seven members of a gang involved in cattle theft in Bawku have been arrested by the Bawku divisional police command.
Police recovered 11 cattle out of 28, with 17 of the cattle still missing.
The team led by the military and police in Bawku peacekeeping duties arrested the suspects from Sagabo and Natinga on separate days.
According to the chief of Gozeisi community, Seidu Apale, a swift intervention from the security saved the suspects from being lynched.
The suspects identified as alhaji Awudu, Ayide, Sumaila, Razak, Abenki Amandy and Bashiru, reportedly confessed to the crime in their caution statement to the police.
Some 30-number gang reportedly asked the military in Bawku assist them retrieve their cattle that were grazing around a river near Kpalure.
The military personnel obliged and assisted them but some members of the group were later rounded up for stealing.
Meanwhile, the Kusaug youth movement, have appeal to the security agencies to conduct thorough investigations to ensure that all those who had engaged in the ungodly acts are identified and punished.
The youth group believe that, fishing out the perpetrators for appropriate sanctions will not only serve as a deterrent to others but help stump out violence, lawlessness and anarchy in Bawku.
All suspects will be sent to judicial custody on Monday as efforts are underway to arrest the other members of the gang.
