Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested a 19-year-old man, Ahmed Mustapha, in connection with the alleged robbery and machete attack on a man at Asabi in the Asokore Mampong Municipality.
The incident occurred at about 12:20 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, when the Asokore Mampong Night Patrol Team received information that a man had been robbed of his mobile phone and found unconscious near the Presbyterian Church at Asabi.

The patrol team quickly responded to the scene. Upon seeing the Police, the suspect allegedly fled and hid in an uncompleted building but was pursued and arrested.
A search on Ahmed Mustapha led to the recovery of the victim’s mobile phone and a machete, which have been retained as exhibits.
The victim sustained machete wounds to the forehead, neck and left hand and was rushed to the KNUST Hospital for treatment.

Police later visited him at about 5:30 a.m., and he had regained consciousness and was reported to be in stable condition.
The suspect remains in Police custody and is assisting with investigations.
