Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to enhance its capacity to respond effectively to fire outbreaks across the country.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, says the government, through the Ministry of the Interior, has commenced processes to procure 100 new fire tenders nationwide as part of broader efforts to improve emergency response and public safety.

Dr Amoakohene made this known during a visit to victims of the recent Sofoline Vehicle Mechanics Shop fire in Kumasi, where he interacted with affected artisans and assessed the extent of damage caused by the inferno.

He assured the victims of government’s support and emphasised that retooling the Fire Service remains a top priority, noting that improved logistics and equipment are critical to preventing future losses and ensuring rapid and effective emergency response.
