The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspects allegedly linked to the activities of Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, popularly known as “Bolle Jos.”
NACOC says the suspects are believed to have represented or facilitated the activities of Leijdekkers’ network in Ghana.
The arrests follow the reported seizure by French customs of a cocaine shipment allegedly connected to the wider network.
The three suspects are currently in NACOC custody and are assisting investigators as authorities examine their alleged roles in the trafficking operation.
NACOC says the arrests form part of efforts to ensure that Ghana does not become a safe haven, transit point or operational base for international drug-trafficking organisations.
The Commission says it will continue working with local and international law-enforcement agencies to disrupt the people, finances and infrastructure supporting the illicit drug trade.
The statement signed by the Acting Director, Public Affairs and International Relations at NACOC, PNCO Francis Opoku Amoah, also stressed that the rights and legal protections of all persons under investigation will be respected.
