The Volta Regional Police Intelligence Department, in a coordinated intelligence-led operation with the Police SWAT Unit, Operation Motherland Taskforce, and ACTION NOW, a community watch group in Aflao, has arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of a mobile money vendor.
The suspects, Michael Sewornu, 34, Korku Agboada, 43, Atsu Agbagla, 36, and Utsuku Onyeso, 22, a Nigerian national, were arrested on Saturday, May 10, 2025, between midnight and 2:00 a.m.
They are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations.
Their arrest follows a deadly daylight robbery that occurred on April 28, 2025, at around 2:15 p.m. at Gbagblakope, near the Diamond Cement Factory in Aflao.
During the attack, a group of unidentified assailants shot and killed Christopher Ahordo, a mobile money vendor, and fled with a bag believed to contain cash.
The Police have commended the collaboration with the community watch group and stressed the importance of public involvement in crime prevention.
“We once again urge the public to remain vigilant and security-conscious. Timely and credible information from the public is crucial in fighting crime and bringing offenders to justice,” the statement said.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that it remains committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens and bringing justice to the victims of violent crimes.
