The Manhyia District Police Command has arrested two persons and seized 100 compressed parcels of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drugs at the Asawase Market in Kumasi.
The arrests followed intelligence that suspected narcotics were being transported through the market concealed in fertilizer sacks.
The suspects, identified as 37-year-old Osman Bussiin and 38-year-old Mohammed Abdul-Razak, were arrested during an intelligence-led operation on July 21, 2026.
Police say a search conducted in the presence of independent witnesses led to the discovery of 13 fertilizer sacks containing second-hand clothing, which concealed the 100 compressed parcels of suspected narcotic substances.
The exhibits have been secured for forensic examination, while the two suspects remain in police custody assisting with investigations.
The police have commended the public for providing information that supports crime-fighting efforts and urged citizens to report suspicious activities through 18555, 191 or 112.
