The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has deployed a reinforcement team of operational officers and armoured vehicles to the towns of Gushegu and Karaga following recent violent clashes in the area.
The move forms part of heightened security measures by the Ghana Police Service aimed at restoring calm and preventing further disturbances.
According to police authorities, the special reinforcement team will collaborate closely with personnel of the Northern Regional Police Command to intensify security patrols across the affected towns and surrounding communities.
The deployment of armoured vehicles is expected to strengthen the operational capacity of security personnel on the ground, ensuring rapid response to any emerging threats and boosting public confidence in law enforcement presence.
Residents in the affected areas have been urged to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and report any suspicious activities that could threaten peace and safety.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order while working to prevent any escalation of tensions in Gushegu, Karaga, and nearby communities.
