The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in a major anti-narcotics operation in Accra, leading to the seizure of suspected cocaine and large sums of cash believed to be proceeds from drug-related activities.
The arrests followed intelligence received by the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector General of Police, indicating that a group of individuals were planning to sell suspected narcotic drugs within the Dzorwulu area.
Acting swiftly, police mounted a surveillance operation and on April 11, 2026, moved into the area where two suspects, Bright Ayivor and Ifeanyi Ijeoba, were arrested. The suspects were found in possession of twenty-two compressed substances suspected to be cocaine, which were reportedly being prepared for sale to a prospective buyer.

Further interrogation of the two suspects led investigators to identify a third suspect, Kwabena Botwe, believed to be a key figure in the drug network. A follow-up operation at Caprice resulted in his arrest after police mounted surveillance during a planned transaction involving proceeds from the sale of the suspected drugs.
Police later searched the suspect’s residence at Greda Estates, where officers recovered ¢400,000 in cash and a money-counting machine believed to have been used in the illegal trade.

During the operation, the suspect allegedly attempted to bribe arresting officers with an additional ¢420,000, an offer that was rejected and the money retained as evidence.
All three suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court.
The latest operation forms part of intensified efforts by the Ghana Police Service to crack down on drug trafficking and related criminal activities within the Accra metropolis.
