Police Clarify No Arrests Made Yet in Accra Central Police Barracks Fire Investigation

The Accra Regional Police Command has clarified that no arrests have been made in connection with the recent fire outbreak at the Accra Central Police Barracks, contrary to earlier reports suggesting that some suspects had been apprehended.

In a statement, the Command said investigations into the cause of the fire are still ongoing and that no individual has been arrested at this stage.

Police also confirmed that a fire officer who sustained injuries while helping to contain the blaze is currently receiving treatment at the Police Hospital and is in stable condition.

The Command further indicated that there have been no reported fatalities arising from the incident.

Authorities say the cause of the fire has not yet been established, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the outbreak.

The fire outbreak was reported at the Accra Central Police Barracks, prompting an emergency response from personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service, who worked tirelessly to bring the situation under control.

The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) and the Accra Regional Police Commander, were on the scene to assess the situation and ensure the necessary support for affected personnel.

According to the Police Administration, no casualties have been recorded so far.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established, and investigations have commenced to establish the possible cause.

The Police Administration has expressed appreciation to personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service and police officers assisting in managing the incident.

Authorities say further updates will be communicated as more information becomes available.
