The Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) has arrested a suspect over alleged threats and offensive remarks directed at President John Dramani Mahama in videos circulated on social media.
The suspect, identified as Mahama Aminat, also known as Akosua Serwaa Minat, was arrested for allegedly making threatening and insulting comments about the President in videos shared on TikTok.

According to police, the suspect was captured in the viral videos allegedly threatening the life of the President and inciting others to harm both President Mahama and the First Lady.
Police say a joint operation involving the CVET and the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Department led to the arrest of the suspect on May 20, 2026, at Sekyere Zongo in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region.
The arrest follows investigations initiated after the videos surfaced online on May 19, 2026.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be arraigned before the court in the coming days.
