A terrifying fuel tanker explosion at Ntoaso, along the busy Accra–Nsawam main road, has thrown the area into chaos, leaving a trail of destruction and panic.
The tanker reportedly caught fire after an explosion, rapidly spreading flames that burnt five cars and five motorcycles, reducing them to twisted metal within minutes. Thick smoke billowed into the sky as motorists and residents scrambled for safety.
Emergency Services on Ground
Rescue and containment efforts are currently underway, with multiple state agencies battling the situation. Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Ambulance Service, and National Disaster Management Organisation are all present at the scene, working to rescue victims, control the fire, and secure the area.
Eyewitnesses describe frantic scenes as responders attempted to prevent the blaze from spreading further along the highway, a key transport corridor linking Accra to several parts of the Eastern and Central regions.
