Garu-Tempane Terror Scare

Fear and anxiety have gripped inhabitants of the Garu and Tempane districts in the Upper East Region following the terrorist alert announced by national security.

Attendance to churches, schools and some health centres close to borders with Togo have started recording low numbers while those who conduct their businesses outside the locality have suspended travelling.

Residents told the news team they are scared following the national security announcement about the suspicious movement of people in the area.

According to the residents, there are more than one hundred unapproved routes located at Tuboug, Bimpella, Kong, Ninsung Denugu and Kpikpira among other communities in both districts.

The unapproved routes they claimed to facilitate the movement of people in and out of the country even under restrictions.

but district chief executive for Tempane, Issaka Anabida allayed their fears

He urged residents to be cautious and report any suspicious characters or strange movements of persons within their communities to the appropriate agencies.
