The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has received support from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the USA to delve deep into financial transactions of embattled former Ghanaian minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

The leading US intelligence agency’s collaboration would assist the OSP to unravel her cross-border activities, the Ghanaian anti-graft institution has said.

“Concurrent inquiries” have since been initiated by the two institutions, the OSP posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday, October 11.

“These investigations primarily focus on examining their assets and financial transactions within the United States of America,” the post read in part.

It added, “This collaborative effort is to ascertain the lawfulness of Ms. Dapaah and her associates’ wealth, both in the context of their funds transitioning from Ghana to the United States and vice versa.”

The Office of the Special Prosecutor’s investigations into activities of former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, and her associates, followed news reports that the former Minister’s domestic help had allegedly stolen $ 1million, 300,000 Euros and personal effects of the Minister and her husband.

Following public uproar over the alleged theft, the Minister resigned, but was picked up by the OSP and granted bail.
