Council of State member, ET Mensah has died

A member of the Council of State, Enoch Teye Mensah, popularly known as ET Mensah, has died.

The veteran politician and former Member of Parliament of Ningo Prampram died at the age of 77.

Sources close to the former Minister said he died on the evening of Sunday, October 1, 2023 in South Africa after battling ill-health .

As a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), E.T. Mensah served in various capacities such as Minister for Education, Minister of Youth and Sports, Mayor of Accra and representative of the Council of State for the Greater Accra Region.

E.T. Mensah was elected as a member of Parliament of the second parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana during the 1996 General Election. He retained his seat as Ningo Prampram MP until 2016 when he lost the NDC’s parliamentary primary to Samuel Nartey George.

Enoch Teye Mensah was born on 17 May 1946. He was survived by a wife and seven children.

His death was reported few hours after the death of the wife of former President Kufuor, Mrs. Theresa Kufuor on Sunday.
