An immigration officer stationed in Bawku in the upper east region have been shot dead by unknown gunmen on Monday April 3.
Two other officers are currently on admission at the Bawku Presbyterian hospital and the tamale teaching hospital receiving treatment for gunshot wounds.
The three officers, were assistant inspector Philip Motey, stationed at Missiga, assistant inspector, Lawrence Afari, stationed at Kulungugu and assistant inspector, Eric Ayidiya, stationed at Pulimakom border post.
They reportedly went to Bawku township in their private car to buy food on Monday April 3, at about 8.00pm when the incident occurred.
Unknown gunmen suddenly opened fire on them in front of Bawku police station.
The three were rushed to the Bawku Presbyterian hospital but assistant inspector Philip Motey, was confirmed dead on arrival.

a statement signed by assistant commissioner of immigration, signed by the Bawku sector commander, Emmanuel Ntim Dankyi and sighted by paqmediagh said the remains of assistant inspector, Philip Motey, has been deposited at Bawku Presbyterian hospital morgue for preservation.
the Bawku municipality has been under daily gun fire since the abortive parliamentary select committee on defense and interior planned fact-finding visit.
prior to the attack on the immigration officers, and at about 5pm Monday April 3, a tricycle operator was attacked and shot dead around Yirongo, a suburb of Bawku.
4 persons were earlier reportedly killed during sporadic shooting two weeks ago, bringing the total number of reported deaths to five.
