The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has confirmed that a police inspector stationed at Mamponteng in the Ashanti Region is under investigation over allegations of defilement and incest involving his 14-year-old daughter.
According to the Police Command, the case was reported to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Agona on November 4, 2025, by Charlotte Samaa from Koforidua in the Eastern Region on behalf of her daughter.
Police say the victim was referred to a government health facility for medical examination to support ongoing investigations.
The suspect, identified as Inspector Desmond Owusu Afriyie, reported himself to the Agona DOVVSU on February 20, 2026, where he was arrested and cautioned. He denied the allegations in his statement and was subsequently granted enquiry bail with instructions to report periodically to investigators.
The Police Command further disclosed that the officer has been interdicted to allow for a full and impartial investigation into the matter.
Authorities say investigations remain ongoing and assured the public that further updates will be communicated in due course.
