Two men are in police custody after officers intercepted a vehicle carrying suspected narcotic drugs valued at more than ₵107,000 during a patrol operation in the Bono East Region.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed that the suspects were arrested on Saturday, April 26, 2026, along the New Longoro–Weila stretch of the Kintampo–New Longoro road.

Highway Interception Leads to Discovery
According to police, a patrol team from the New Longoro Police Station stopped an unregistered white Toyota Highlander at about 12:40 p.m.
The vehicle was being driven from the direction of Kintampo when officers conducted a search.
Inside the vehicle, police discovered two sacks containing 166 parcels of dried plant material, suspected to be cannabis.
The suspects, identified as Sadic Wemah, 42, and Senbeti Karim, 39, were arrested at the scene and transported to the Kintampo Divisional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further questioning.
Suspects Admit Ownership
During interrogation, police say the suspects admitted the substance was cannabis and claimed ownership of the consignment.
They further disclosed that the drugs were allegedly purchased from a supplier identified only as Edem, also known as “Confirm.”
According to the suspects, the supplier reportedly transports cannabis from the Volta Region through Tamale.
Investigators say the suspects claimed they took delivery of the drugs at a filling station near the new market in Kintampo and were transporting them to Banda Nkwanta for sale.

Evidence Retained as Investigations Continue
Police estimate the street value of the seized drugs at approximately ₵107,000.
The suspects remain in custody assisting with investigations, while the seized exhibits, including the 166 parcels of suspected cannabis and the vehicle—have been retained as evidence.
Authorities say efforts are underway to track down the alleged supplier, Edem alias “Confirm,” and any other persons connected to the drug network.
Police Intensify Fight Against Drug Trafficking
The Bono East Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service says it remains committed to tackling drug trafficking and related criminal activities across the region.
Officials also commended the vigilance of the patrol team, noting that continued surveillance and intelligence-led operations remain key to curbing the illegal drug trade.
