Police Crack Down On Akatsi Robbery Network; Three Suspects Arrested, Weapons Seized

A targeted police operation in Akatsi and surrounding communities has led to the arrest of three suspected members of a robbery network and the seizure of a cache of weapons believed to have been used in criminal activities.

The operation, led by the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police, forms part of intensified security efforts following recent robbery incidents reported across the Akatsi enclave.

Suspects Arrested

Police identified the suspects as Enoch Adoglo, Cephas Aniwaa, and David Adzinu, who were arrested during coordinated intelligence-led operations on April 21, 2026.

According to investigators, the first suspect, Enoch Adoglo, was arrested at Gavekope. Further intelligence led officers to the outskirts of the same community, where Cephas Aniwaa, a blacksmith believed to be responsible for manufacturing weapons for the group, was arrested. A third suspect, David Adzinu, was subsequently apprehended.

Weapons and Items Recovered

A search conducted during the arrests led to the retrieval of several weapons and related materials, including:

  • Seven (7) single-barrel rifles
  • Five (5) locally manufactured pistols
  • One (1) revolver
  • Sixty-four (64) rounds of ACP ammunition
  • Eleven (11) rounds of AK-47 ammunition
  • Four (4) rounds of 7.62 × 51 ammunition
  • Four (4) live BB cartridges
  • Eighteen (18) spent BB cartridges
  • Three (3) mobile phones
  • Assorted winding tools

Police say the weapons are believed to have been used in robbery activities within the area.

Manhunt Underway

Further investigations have identified Mensah Kedzi as a key suspect linked to several robberies, including an incident reported on April 3, 2026. He is currently on the run alongside other accomplices identified as Akakpo, an ex-convict, and Ageh.

Authorities say efforts have been intensified to locate and arrest the remaining suspects.

Police Assurance

Police officials have assured residents of Akatsi and surrounding communities that operations will continue until all members of the suspected robbery network are apprehended and brought before the courts.

Residents are also being encouraged to provide credible information to assist ongoing investigations.
