Tsenku Hiking Club Donates Refurbished ICT Lab to Tutu Methodist School

Students of Tutu Methodist School in the Akuapim North Municipality now have access to a fully equipped ICT laboratory—thanks to a major intervention by the Tsenku Hiking Club.

The Obosomase-based organisation handed over the refurbished facility on April 1, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve access to digital education across communities on the Akuapim Ridge.

The project, valued at over ₵150,000, was funded through proceeds from the club’s annual 52-kilometre “Madness Walk”, a sponsored trek from Dansoman to Obosomase, supported by individual donors and corporate partners, including Star Oil Ghana. Additional support came from Compuserve Ghana, which provided a projector and an HP printer.

The upgraded ICT lab features 21 desktop computers, along with desks and chairs to accommodate up to 40 students, creating a modern learning environment for practical digital training.

The ceremony attracted key stakeholders, including traditional leaders, government officials, and church representatives, highlighting the importance of community partnerships in advancing education.

This latest project adds to a growing list of interventions by the club. Over the years, it has supported several schools in the area with furniture and ICT facilities, impacting more than 800 children.

For students of Tutu Methodist JHS, the donation marks a turning point, transforming access to technology from a challenge into an opportunity.

What began as a group of hiking enthusiasts has evolved into a purpose-driven community organisation, using adventure to drive real social impact.
