Shock at Effiakuma: Two Arrested over Viral Abuse Video Involving Minors

The Western Regional Police Command has arrested two men in connection with a disturbing viral video filmed at Effiakuma in the Western Region.

The suspects, Edward Azalekor, 52, and Martin Amuzu, 35, were picked up on Thursday, February 26, 2026, after police received the video from a presenter at Connect FM. The footage, which circulated widely on social media, shows the suspects assaulting two teenagers, aged 13 and 17, inside a shop while bystanders looked on.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that the incident followed a domestic dispute. The 17-year-old girl reportedly returned home late on February 16, 2026, prompting her mother to alert Edward Azalekor, who serves as Assemblyman for the Effiakuma West Electoral Area, to discipline her. Police say the situation escalated, leading to the abuse captured in the video.

The two suspects were arraigned before the Harbor District Court on Friday, February 27, 2026, where they were granted bail for ₵20,000 each. They are expected to reappear in court on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

The female victim has since been placed in the care of the Department of Social Welfare, while investigations continue to arrest another suspect, Isaac Nana Osei, who allegedly filmed the incident and is currently on the run.

Police say efforts are ongoing to ensure all persons involved are brought to justice and to protect the welfare of the victims.
