Fear and shock have gripped residents of Twifo Nuamakrom in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region after a 44-year-old man was arrested for allegedly burying his wife in their bedroom for more than two weeks.
The suspect, Kweku Charles, was picked up by the Twifo Praso Police following reports that he secretly buried his 80-year-old wife, Sofomaame Esther Bolu, popularly known as “Nigeria Woman,” without informing family members or authorities.

The deceased was the founder and leader of the Miracles Prayer Centre at Nuamakrom and had reportedly been unwell for some time. As her condition deteriorated, her husband is said to have taken over church activities. She later passed away under circumstances now under investigation.

Suspicion arose when community members noticed that the prophetess had not been seen for over two weeks. When confronted, Charles allegedly told residents that his wife had been sent to Accra for medical treatment. However, inconsistencies in his explanation raised further concerns.

According to residents, when questioned again, the suspect attempted to flee, prompting a search of the house, during which the woman’s body was allegedly discovered buried in the bedroom.
Community elders reported the matter to the Twifo Praso Police, who moved in to arrest the suspect. Environmental Health Officers were also deployed to exhume the body for further examination.

Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death and the alleged secret burial. The suspect remains in police custody to assist with investigations.
