Police Arrest Two More Suspects in 2024 Adabraka Gold Robbery as IGP Highlights Crime-Fighting Gains at Wassa

The Ghana Police Service has arrested two additional suspects linked to the 2024 Adabraka Gold Shop robbery, marking another breakthrough in its ongoing fight against violent crime.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP),Christian Tetteh Yohuno, announced the arrests during the West African Soldiers Social Activities (WASSA) at the National Police Headquarters on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

According to the IGP, the suspects—Hamza Agerego, alias “Nene Bawku,” and Alhassan Elliasu, alias “Arab Man”—were arrested at Ashaiman following months of intelligence-led operations. Police recovered firearms, ammunition, bulletproof vests, and other exhibits from the suspects.

The arrests bring the total number of suspects apprehended in the high-profile robbery to three, following the earlier arrest of Salim Mohammed, alias “Fariwata,” on November 20, 2025.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Yohuno said the development demonstrates the Service’s firm and decisive stance against violent crime, assuring the public that Ghana is becoming an increasingly hostile environment for criminals.

He noted that recent successes in investigations, intelligence-led operations, and community policing have made crime “increasingly unattractive,” adding that the Police Service will continue to pursue fugitives relentlessly, regardless of how long it takes.
