Foreign Affairs Minister Visits Namoo Border Post in Upper East Region

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has visited the Namoo Border Post in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region as part of his official tour to commission the Bolgatanga Passport Application Centre.

The visit, undertaken at the invitation of the Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, provided the Foreign Affairs Minister with firsthand insight into operations at the border.

Ablakwa commended security and immigration personnel stationed at the post for their diligence in safeguarding Ghana’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of citizens. He assured them that the government is taking steps to improve working conditions and strengthen logistics at the border post to enhance efficiency.

During the visit, the Minister also met with traditional leaders and residents of the Namoo community. The engagement offered an opportunity for locals to share their concerns and developmental priorities.

The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to equitable development across all regions, noting that border communities like Namoo play a crucial role in national security and regional trade.
