The North East Regional Police Command, in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) in Nalerigu, has intercepted a massive consignment of 1,195 boxes of Tramadol Hydrochloride 120mg, popularly known as “Red”, concealed in a truck at Gbintri near Nalerigu.
Six suspects, Alhassan Braimah, Yakubu Muntaka, Abdulai Shakur, Mumuni Iddrisu, Mumuni Yakubu, and Moses Ayorik, were arrested on 18th September 2025 after two trucks with registration numbers GR 1712-16 and AW 4417-14 were intercepted. The vehicles had been loaded in Sankase, Republic of Togo, and were headed to Gbintri.

A search of truck GR 1712-16 revealed that the restricted drug was hidden among other goods. The exhibits have since been secured as evidence.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed that the consignment was destined for Moses Ayorik at Gbintri, who was expected to deliver it to another individual at Gushegu.

All six suspects remain in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities say efforts are underway to track down other individuals linked to the case.
