The Government of Ghana, through the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) to drive the country’s economic transformation agenda.

The signing ceremony, held at the Bank of Ghana in Accra, sets out a framework for collaboration to finance and accelerate key pillars of the government’s 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme (24H+).

Presidential Advisor on the 24H+ Programme, Goosie Tanoh, highlighted the direct benefits of the partnership for Ghanaian businesses and households.

Leading the BADEA delegation, the bank’s President, Abdullah Almusaibeeh, praised Ghana’s vision for inclusive growth.

“With this memorandum of understanding, we are laying the foundation for a new and promising chapter in Arab-African cooperation,” he said.

He explained that the partnership will provide technical assistance to strengthen implementation capacity, establish trade finance facilities to support food security and balanced trade, and deliver affordable financing for small businesses — enabling enterprises to expand and create jobs. It will also promote Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) to accelerate infrastructure investment.

The Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Matilda Asante-Asiedu, welcomed the agreement, stressing the central bank’s role in the process.

“This signing is more than symbolic; it demonstrates our shared commitment to Africa’s structural transformation,” she noted.

The partnership with BADEA marks a significant step toward mobilizing investment to modernize key sectors of Ghana’s economy, enhance competitiveness, boost exports, and create sustainable jobs, particularly for the youth.
