
The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested three individuals for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition at Bowodie–Wassa Akropong in the Western Region.
The suspects, identified as Hakeem Imoro, Imoro Tahiru, and Nurideen Wahab, were apprehended on April 30, 2025, while traveling aboard a Grand Bird Bus with registration number AS 4431-22 en route to Wassa Akropong.
A search conducted on suspect Hakeem Imoro led to the discovery of a submachine gun (SMG) and twenty-one (21) rounds of ammunition concealed in his belongings.

During initial interrogation, Hakeem Imoro reportedly claimed that the weapon had been handed to him by his employer for safekeeping.
All three suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities confirm that the suspects will be arraigned before court.
The Police Command reiterated its commitment to combatting the illegal possession and circulation of firearms to maintain public safety and security in the region.
