The Western North Regional Police Command, under the leadership of DCOP Dr. Francis Kwame Tsidi, has launched a special enforcement operation to tackle the rising number of road crashes caused by reckless tricycle and motorcycle riders.
The operation, which commenced on May 28, 2025, targeted unregistered tricycles, unlicensed riders, and individuals engaging in dangerous conduct on the roads. The crackdown is part of a broader effort to restore discipline and ensure safety on the region’s roads.

Several offenders were apprehended and swiftly arraigned before the District Magistrate Court, presided over by His Worship Eric Baah Boateng. The court found them guilty of the charges and sentenced them to seven days in prison with hard labour, in addition to imposing fines. Offenders who are unable to pay the fines will serve a default sentence of 90 days’ imprisonment with hard labour.
The operation, carried out within the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, is expected to serve as a deterrent to reckless riders and contribute to reducing the alarming rate of road accidents in the region.

The Regional Police Command has assured the public that this enforcement effort will be sustained to promote long-term road safety across Western North. Authorities are also urging the public to comply with road traffic regulations and report traffic offences to support the initiative.
