
The National Illegal Mining Operations Task Force (NAIMOS) has stepped up its crackdown on galamsey with the arrest of a nine-member gang in the Anhwiafutu Forest Belt, located within the Atwima Mponua Forest Reserve.
The suspects were picked up last week during a special operation and initially held at the Kumasi Central Police Station. Over the weekend, they were transferred to Accra and officially handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigations.

NAIMOS confirmed thatfive suspects are currently in custody at the Kotobabi Police Station, while four others are being detained at the Cantonments Police Station.
The task force reiterated its commitment to sustaining operations against illegal mining groups, stressing that the fight against galamsey will continue until the menace is eradicated.
