MTTD and Guinness Ghana Launch Festive Season Road Safety Campaign

The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with Guinness Ghana PLC and with support from the Police Public Affairs Directorate, has launched a one-week festive season road safety and responsible driving campaign aimed at reducing road crashes during the yuletide.

The initiative, which commenced on Thursday, December 18, 2025, targets excessive speeding and drink-driving, two major contributors to road traffic accidents during periods of heightened travel and social activity.

As part of the campaign, the joint team mounted sensitisation exercises along major road corridors, including the Accra–Nsawam–Kumasi Highway (N6) and the Anyaa–Awoshie Road. Motorists were educated on the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and reminded to comply strictly with prescribed speed limits to protect themselves and other road users.

Drivers who voluntarily submitted to breathalyser tests and tested negative were rewarded with branded T-shirts and souvenirs bearing messages such as Your Eye for Clear and Don’t Booze, Just Cruise. The exercise was well received, with many motorists commending the Ghana Police Service and Guinness Ghana PLC for the timely intervention.

Organisers say the campaign will be extended to other major road corridors across the country as part of efforts to promote safe and responsible driving throughout the festive season.
