One person has been arrested in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Upper East Region, following a swift intelligence-led operation by a special police team.
The arrest was carried out on the orders of the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, after the fatal incident that occurred on 8 February 2026 in Zebilla.

The suspect, identified as Simon Apusiga, also known as Ananga, aged 42, was arrested on 10 February 2026 at his hideout in the Tarkwa–Huni Valley area in the Western Region.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the suspect fled Zebilla shortly after the attack and went into hiding across regions in an attempt to evade arrest. However, sustained intelligence gathering led investigators to his location, resulting in his capture.

In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, the police confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
The statement further noted that the suspect will be arraigned before court to face the full rigours of the law, while intensified efforts are underway to track down and arrest other accomplices linked to the crime.

Police say the breakthrough arrest underscores their commitment to ensuring justice for fallen officers and restoring public confidence in security operations across the country.
