King Jojo’ Awinongya Jr wins Gold and makes history at U19 World Boxing Championships

Joseph Awinongya Jr. aka King Jojo, a Ghanaian American won the maiden 75Kg Men U19 WORLD BOXING  Championship which started on October 28, 2024 and ended on November 1, 2024.

Awinongya Jr. began his historic journey at the tournament by a round 1 stoppage of Connor Anderson of New Zealand to face Mustapha Abdou from Algeria.

Kundu and Awinongya Jr. gave fans a good bout displaying why they deserved to be in the finals.

Awinongya Jr scored 10-9 on all judge’s cards in round 1 with Kundu coming back strongly in round 2 but came short on the judges.

Awinongya Jr again scored 10-9 on all the judges in the third round to record a 4-1 decision win against Rahul Kundu.

He is the first Ghanaian American to achieve this feat. He has been selected for the USA team for the next Olympic Games in 2028 in LA.
