IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno Meets Former Inspectors General of Police to Strengthen his Administration and the Police Service

The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, met with former Inspectors-General of Police at the National Police Headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, April 2.

The meeting served as a platform for the former police chiefs to share their experiences and offer counsel, aimed at strengthening the administrative and operational effectiveness of the Ghana Police Service.

For the first time in the history of the Ghana Police Service, an Inspector-General of Police has actively sought views, suggestions, and guidance from his predecessors to shape his administration.

Beyond the usual stakeholder engagements, Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno has taken a step further by engaging with all retired former IGPs.

The meeting, held on Wednesday, April 2, aimed to foster collaboration between the current leadership and former IGPs to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Ghana Police Service.

In attendance were Christopher Komla (C.K.) Dewornu, P.K. Acheampong, Ernest Owusu-Poku, Nana Stephen Owusu-Nsiah, Elizabeth Mills-Robertson, John Kudalor, David Asante-Apeatu, and James Oppong-Boanuh.

Discussions focused on personnel welfare, crime-fighting strategies, capacity building, stakeholder engagement, ongoing reforms, and broader issues related to security, law, and order in the country.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to regular engagements to ensure the continued growth and efficiency of the Police Service.

Notably absent from this landmark meeting was the immediate past IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
