Health alert: Patients face cross-infections at Korle Bu

1 Min Read
3FM has gathered that the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital’s Centre for Sterilization and Supply Department (CSSD) is malfunctioning as its equipment breaks down.

This means that patients who visit the hospital for surgery can’t be guaranteed an infection free surgery.

A source close to the centre told 3FM that most patients end up going home with cross-infections as the improvised way the hospital has adopted to sterilize its equipment with boiled water is not standardized.

3FM has also gathered that some of the equipments are sent from the premier referral hospital to either the Ridge or 37 Military hospitals for sterilization.

According to our sources, some doctors in the facility even refer some clients to sister institutions as they fear the possibility of infecting their patients.

However, efforts to contact the hospital’s management to comment on the issue have not been fruitful.
