The Government of Ghana has officially launched an application portal for first-year students in public tertiary institutions to access financial support under the flagship “No-Fees-Stress” policy, aimed at removing cost barriers to higher education.
Announcing the initiative on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, described the program as a “bold and transformative policy” by the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, designed to ensure that no qualified student is denied tertiary education due to financial constraints.
As outlined in the 2025 national budget, the government has allocated ¢499.8 million to cover academic fees for all first-year students in Ghana’s public tertiary institutions for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The “No-Fees-Stress” policy is projected to boost Ghana’s gross tertiary enrollment ratio from 22% to 40% by 2030, supporting the country’s long-term human capital and socio-economic development goals.
The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), the agency responsible for implementing the initiative, announced that the new digital portal is now live. In a statement signed by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Saajida Shiraz, the SLTF confirmed that it will oversee the application process, verification, and timely disbursement of funds to eligible students.

The online portal has been designed to offer a streamlined and user-friendly experience, allowing students to submit personal and academic information for authentication and approval.
Government officials believe the initiative will bridge the financial gap for thousands of families and encourage equitable access to higher education across the country.
Students are encouraged to visit the portal promptly to complete their registration and take advantage of the full tuition support for their academic journey.
