Ghana’s first-ever female world boxing champion, Abigail Quartey, has secured a major international title opportunity as she prepares to fight for the Commonwealth Super Bantamweight Silver title in Scotland later this month.
Quartey, popularly known as “Kwartekaa,” will face Britain’s Cassidy Todd at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley, Scotland, on May 29, 2026.
The bout comes just weeks after the Ghanaian boxer publicly expressed frustration over inactivity and a lack of fights despite winning the WIBF World Super Bantamweight title in 2024. Speaking on Omashi TV’s flagship sports programme, The Big Fight Night, Quartey announced her withdrawal from the management of Solomon Otoo, citing concerns over her career progression.

“I have not fought since I won the IBF world title, and I cannot keep on training without a fight,” she lamented during the interview.
Now, the hard-hitting boxer with a professional record of 10 wins and one defeat, including seven knockouts, says she is fully focused on grabbing the new opportunity with both hands.
Quartey made history on November 18, 2024, when she defeated British boxer Sangeeta Birdi at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra to become Ghana’s first female world boxing champion.
Trained by renowned boxing coach Eben Adjei, popularly known as “Coach Killer,” at the Black Panthers Gym, Team Quartey believes the upcoming Scotland showdown could open an even bigger chapter in the boxer’s career.
With renewed determination and another international title within reach, Abigail Quartey heads to Scotland carrying not just her own ambitions, but the hopes of Ghanaian boxing fans eager to see her rise once again on the global stage.
