3 Min Read

The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of a key suspect believed to be the mastermind behind a spate of high-profile residential robberies across Accra between 2022 and 2024.

The suspect, identified as Adinda Akpo Abdou Moudjibou, also known by multiple aliases including Mohamed Djandjo and Biya-Kigui, was arrested after months of surveillance and cross-border collaboration. Police say he worked closely with an accomplice, Alidu Marzouk, who is still on the run and is known to operate under several aliases, such as Rashid Bawa, Maxwell, Papa Rich, and Dawa.

Targeted Elite Communities

The duo allegedly targeted elite residential communities including East Legon, Cantonments, Ridge, Tesano, Airport Residential Area, and Adjiriganor, executing a string of coordinated robberies that left many residents shaken.

The investigation intensified after CCTV footage of Moudjibou’s activities was widely shared on social media, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Adabraka District Court on September 5, 2024. He was subsequently placed on an INTERPOL Red Notice, triggering international law enforcement cooperation.

Further investigation revealed that Moudjibou possessed both Ghanaian and Togolese identification documents, raising concerns about the transnational nature of the criminal network.

International Support and Cooperation

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ghana Police Service praised the collaborative efforts that led to the suspect’s arrest:

“This success once again highlights the importance of regional cooperation in tackling transnational crime and bringing offenders to justice,” the statement read.

The Service also extended its appreciation to the Togo National Police Force, INTERPOL Lomé, and the Ghana Embassy in Togo for their critical role in the operation.

Manhunt for Accomplice Continues

The police have intensified efforts to locate Alidu Marzouk, urging the public to volunteer credible information.

“We remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all persons in the country. And to all suspects at large, know that we are coming for you — and surely, we will get you arrested to face the law,” the Police Service added.

The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity through the Police emergency lines or social media handles.
