Charles Yaw Tetteh of Panix Boxing Gym produced power, agility and artistry to stop sea view’s john quaye to become the undisputed boxer of the maiden Ghana professional boxing league.
The more focused and disciplined Yaw Tetteh punished his opponent right from the bell till the tenth round ten in an obvious unanimous decision.
The last night of the maiden Ghana professional boxing league was shifted to boxing day December 26 at the usual Bukom boxing arena.
The arena was packed to capacity.
The ultimate bout was a national featherweight championship between the versatile Charles Yaw Tetteh and overly rated John Quaye.
The ten rounder was also to determine the best boxer of the inaugural Ghana Professional boxing league.
Charles Yaw Tetteh, took the fight to his opponent right at the sound of the bell, hitting him with a combination of jabs and punches amidst intimidation from his opponent’s support base who himself had little to offer in the ring.
Yaw Tetteh sustained the momentum round after round and was on the verge of dropping John Quaye in round seven but was saved by a loose bandage that compelled the referee to call for a hold-up.
Shortly after the bout resumed the lights went off plunging the stadium into total darkness.
The floodlights were switched on for the fight to continue but John Quaye’s support base had to be chased out by the security for violence incursions.
It ended in an obvious majority decision for Charles Yaw Tetteh, who now holds the bragging rights as the best boxer and the national featherweight champion.
