Breaking: Police intercept 300+ drums of suspected stolen ECG cables at a Kpone industrial facility.

Investigators say the cables were being cut, melted, and prepared for export to China. More details emerging.

Police intelligence led to the interception of more than 300 drums of brand-new ECG service cables at a facility in the Sentuo Resources enclave in the Kpone Industrial Area.

Investigators suspect the cables were stolen, cut into pieces, and melted down for export to China, raising concerns about a possible recycling chain that could see the same materials reprocessed and resold for use in power infrastructure.

Investigations are ongoing.

A major suspected power cable diversion operation has been uncovered in the Kpone Industrial Area, where police have intercepted over 300 drums of brand-new ECG service cables believed to have been stolen.

Personnel from the CID Headquarters, acting on intelligence, stormed a facility within the Sentuo Resources enclave on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, where they discovered large quantities of cables.

Preliminary investigations at the scene revealed that the cables had been cut into pieces and melted down, with the material allegedly being prepared for export to China.

Investigators believe the processed material could be recycled into new electrical cables, raising concerns that the same material could potentially be sold back into the supply chain.

Police also found cut cable fragments and remolded materials ready for export, confirming suspicions of an ongoing recycling operation.

Authorities say investigations are continuing, and further details are expected as the operation unfolds.
