Black Rockets Clinch Three Gold Medals at 2025 Africa Youth Boxing Championship

Ghana’s National Youth Boxing Team, the Black Rockets, delivered a stellar performance at the 2025 Africa Youth Amateur Boxing Championship held in Conakry, Guinea, bagging three gold medals and reaffirming the country’s rising status in continental amateur boxing.

The latest gold medal came from Desmond Pappoe, who knocked out South Africa’s Mighty Sangoni in the second round of the Men’s Middleweight (75kg) division, thrilling spectators with his power and precision.

Earlier, Ghana had already struck gold through Mathias Ashitey in the Flyweight (51kg) category and George Dowouna in the Bantamweight (54kg) division.

These victories underscore Ghana’s growing strength in youth boxing and signal a promising future for the senior national team, the Black Bombers, as they prepare to build on this youth momentum.

With such talent rising through the ranks, Ghana’s prospects in elite international amateur boxing continue to shine brightly.
